Application Procedure

Applicants must have a high school diploma [a bachelor’s degree is preferred].

Applicants must:

1.Submit the completed application form with the non-refundable application fee.
2.Attend an INTERVIEW or INFORMATION SESSION with a director or a staff member
3.Submit two original transcripts, in original language and a copy in English. Translation may be done by a lawyer, college/university, or professional evaluating organization that provides translation services. This information can be submitted within the first six months of your student teaching.
4.Submit 2 recent 1”x 1” photos
5.Submit a one-page essay on “Why I want to become a Montessori teacher.”
6.Submit the assignment.see application form

Upon receipt of all the above information, review of the essay, and interview, EMTTA will acknowledge acceptance or non-acceptance.

TRANSFER OF MONTESSORI COURSEWORK INTO EMTTA

From time to time an individual with a bachelor’s degree and a Montessori credential may seek an EMTTA credential. EMTTA will follow the AMS guidelines. If you think that you might fit into the first two categories, please request a copy of the AMS guidelines.

  • Transfer from Teacher Education Programs recognized by AMS
    Transfer of contact hours and/or credits from teacher education programs recognized by AMS (AMI, NCME, and MACTE accredited programs) will be considered with verification of specific documentation

  • Transfer from Teacher Education Programs not recognized by AMS
    Transfer of credits from Montessori programs not recognized by AMS will not be accepted. The candidate must take the full AMS credential course.
