Trust & Respect

Mutually respectful relationships based on shared values between students, and between student and teacher, are the basis for a happy and dynamic school environment. Values of grace, courtesy, care for oneself, others, and the environment are naturally integrated into all lessons your child experiences during the school day.

The staff and families at each Etonkids campus continually work together to enrich the local community.

Classroom Structure:

A Nursery Community classroom has a maximum of between 20-25 children and 5 teachers. Adjustment in the number of teachers may be made to accommodate a class with less than 20 children. A teacher-student ratio of 4-5 teachers : 1 student is always maintained.

A Casa Community classroom has a maximum of between 25-30 children and 4 teachers. Adjustment in the number of teachers may be made to accommodate a class with less than 25 children. A teacher-student ratio of 5-6 teachers : 1 student is always maintained.

Classroom Placements:

Classroom placements are based on a variety of factors that include teacher recommendations, student interviews, the age and gender of the student, as well as cultural background in order to create diverse learning environments that offer the most benefit to each student. Parents may also submit a written request to the admissions officer for a particular classroom placement. Except under rare circumstances, once a student is assigned to a classroom, no transfers may take place.

Attendance Policy:

Timely attendance is important for your child’s learning process and the cohesion of the classroom. We understand that absences cannot be avoided due to illness or family reasons. In the case of extended absence, please inform your campus admin office and lead teacher as far in advance as possible.

Classroom Observation Days:

We encourage parents to participate in classroom visitation days as a way to personally observe their child’s progress, as well as to better understand Montessori. Children also enjoy these opportunities to share their learning and accomplishments with parents.

Classroom observation days are normally held twice a year, in October and April. You will be asked to sign up for a timeslot in advance. Please do so early to obtain a time that is convenient to your schedule. You may also arrange other visitations through cooperation with your classroom lead teacher. Visits normally last 30 minutes.
